Introduction

​

Welcome to our Wild Bahamas Group of Companies Ltd. ("we," "us," or "our") abbreviated as Wild Bahamas, “From the Ground Up Ecology Course!” We’re thrilled to have you join us as we explore Bahamian terrestrial wildlife and ecosystems.  Our goal is to help you build a solid foundation in Bahamian terrestrial ecology while creating a meaningful, productive, and exciting learning experience. We believe that in order to properly understand Bahamian terrestrial ecology we must learn what defines our islands. By enrolling, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions outlined below. Please take the time to review them carefully. Thank you for your attention.

1. Enrolment and Access

​

1.1 Eligibility

​

a. Enrollment in this course is open to individuals who meet the specified prerequisites or qualifications listed in the course description.


1.2 Course Access

​

a. Upon successful enrollment, you will receive access to the course materials and resources via our platform, email or otherwise specified by the instructor. Access will remain available for the duration of the course, unless otherwise specified.
 

2. Course Fees and Payment

​

2.1 Payment

​

a. Full payment of course fees must be completed before access to the course materials is granted.

b. Payments can be made by credit or debit card, direct deposit, cash or check.

c. Payments will only be accepted in BSD or USD.

​

2.2 Cancellation and Refund

​

Wild Bahamas understands that unforeseen situations may prevent an enrollee from participating in the desired course before commencement, thus we have tried to keep cancellation charges to a minimum should this be the case. Invoice cancellation charges for the course are as follows:

​

a.  Cancellation made within three (3) business days of enrolment (i.e. beginning from the day of payment)- 10% administrative fee only. The balance will be refunded.

​

b.  Refunds requested after this period will not be granted, except in exceptional cases (e.g., medical emergencies or natural disasters) for which satisfactory proof of the latter will be necessary to process the refund. The refund will still incur the 10% administrative fee only.

​

c.  Refund requests must be sent to janjohnson@wild-bahamas.com and/or sjohnson@wild-bahamas.com

​

d.  Courses will not commence if the minimum enrollment capacity is not achieved. Should this occur, individuals already enrolled will be fully refunded at no charge to them.

 

3. Course Materials, Intellectual Property and Data Collection

​

3.1 Course Content

​

a.  All course materials, including videos, documents, and assignments, are the intellectual property of Wild Bahamas Group of Companies Ltd. Unauthorised distribution, reproduction, or use of these materials is strictly prohibited.

​

b.  All data, research, or materials collected during fieldwork are the property of Wild Bahamas Group of Companies Ltd unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. Participants may be allowed to use the data for academic purposes with prior permission.

​

3.2 License to Use

​

a. Upon enrollment, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the course materials for personal educational purposes only.

​

3.3 Copyright

​

a. Any content you submit or create as part of the course (e.g., assignments, projects) remains your property; however, by submitting it, you grant Wild Bahamas Group of Companies Ltd. a license to use your submissions for course-related purposes.

​

3.4 Confidentiality

​

a. Participants may be required to maintain the confidentiality of certain information encountered during fieldwork, including sensitive research data or site-specific information. Unauthorized disclosure of such information is strictly prohibited.

​

4. Course Participation-Theory and Fieldwork

​

4.1 Attendance and Deadlines

​

a. You are expected to attend and actively participate in all aspects (both theory and fieldwork) of the course and meet all deadlines for assignments and assessments. Failure to do so may result in loss of access to certain resources, evaluation benefits or complete failure of the course.

​

b. Unexcused absences or habitual tardiness may result in failure to complete the fieldwork component of the course.

​

4.2 Code of Conduct

​

a. All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional, respectful, and ethical manner including discussions and communication with instructors, peers, and course staff throughout the duration of the course. Discriminatory, offensive, or disruptive conduct will not be tolerated. Upon issuance of three (3) formal warnings, such behaviour shall result in the termination of the participant's enrollment in the course without refund.

4.3 Compliance with Site Rules

​

a. Participants must abide by all local site rules, including property access restrictions, conservation guidelines, and environmental regulations. Failure to comply may result in removal from the fieldwork and disciplinary action.

​

4.4 Supervision

​

a. Fieldwork must be conducted under the supervision of designated staff or site supervisors unless explicitly stated otherwise.

​

4.5 Plagiarism and Cheating

​

 a. Academic honesty is crucial. Any instance of plagiarism, cheating, or dishonesty will result in disciplinary actions, including removal from the course without a refund.

​

4.6 Evaluation

​

 a. Successful completion of fieldwork will be evaluated based on criteria such as participation, quality of work, adherence to safety protocols, and professionalism, as outlined by the program or course requirements.

​

5. Health and Safety

​

5.1 Personal Responsibility

​

a. You are responsible for your own health and safety while undertaking the entire course (i.e. theory and fieldwork). This includes following all safety protocols, wearing required protective equipment, and ensuring that you are physically and mentally fit for the course activities.

​

5.2 Medical Clearance

​

 a. In certain cases, participants may be required to provide medical clearance before engaging in fieldwork, particularly if the activities involve strenuous physical tasks or exposure to specific environmental conditions.

​

5.3 Emergencies

​

a. In the event of an emergency during fieldwork, you must promptly report to the designated supervisor or emergency contact as instructed. You are encouraged to carry personal emergency supplies (e.g., first-aid kits) as deemed necessary for the nature of the work.

​

6. Use of Equipment and Resources

​

6.1 Equipment Responsibility

​

a. You are responsible for the proper use and care of any equipment, tools, or resources provided for fieldwork activities. Loss, damage, or misuse of equipment may result in financial liability for replacement or repair costs.

​

6.2 Personal Equipment

​

a. If you choose to use your own equipment for fieldwork, you do so at your own risk. Wild Bahamas Group of Company Ltd assumes no responsibility for personal equipment that is damaged, lost, or stolen during fieldwork activities.

​

7. Insurance and Liability

​

7.1 Personal Insurance

​

 a. Participants are required to maintain personal insurance coverage for health, injury, and liability during the fieldwork period. Wild Bahamas Group of Companies Ltd does not provide personal insurance coverage for participants.

​

7.2 Liability Waiver

​

a. By participating in fieldwork, you acknowledge and accept the risks inherent in the activities, including but not limited to personal injury, illness, property damage, environmental hazards and accidental death. Participants agree to release and hold Wild Bahamas Group of Companies Ltd harmless from any liability arising from participation in fieldwork, except where such liability is the result of gross negligence or willful misconduct by Wild Bahamas Group of Companies Ltd.

7.3 Disclaimer

​

 a. While Wild Bahamas Group of Companies Ltd strives to provide high-quality educational materials, we make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or applicability of the course content to individual situations.

 

7.4 Limitation of Liability

​

a. Wild Bahamas Group of Companies Ltd will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of the course or its materials.

​

8. Termination of Course Participation- Theory and/or Field Work

​

8.1 Voluntary Withdrawal

​

 a. Participants may withdraw from the course at any time by notifying us in writing. Refund eligibility will be determined in accordance with the refund policy stated above in section 2 subsection 2.2.


8.2 Dismissal for Misconduct

​

a. Participants who engage in misconduct, violate these Terms and Conditions, or fail to follow safety protocols may be dismissed from the course without prior warning. Dismissal may result in forfeiture of course credit and may be subject to further disciplinary action.

​

8.3 Force Majeure

​

a. The course may be suspended or terminated due to unforeseen events such as extreme weather, natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, civil unrest, war or other force majeure events. In such cases, Wild Bahamas Group of Companies Ltd will make reasonable efforts to provide alternative arrangements or reschedule course sessions but cannot guarantee the completion of the course under such circumstances.

9. Changes to the Course

9.1 Course Modifications

​​

a. Wild Bahamas Group of Companies Ltd reserves the right to make changes to the course schedule, content, instructors, or delivery methods in response to unforeseen circumstances or in the interest of improving the course experience.

9.2 Notification of Changes

​

 a. Any significant changes will be communicated to you via email or the course platform.

​

10. Privacy and Data Protection

​

10.1 Data Collection

​

a.  By enrolling, participants agree to the collection and use of their personal information as necessary to administer and manage course activities in accordance with our Privacy Policy. This information may include contact details, health information, and emergency contact information. This will be in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10.2 Third-Party Services

​

a. The course may use third-party platforms for certain functionalities (e.g., video hosting, assignment submission, payments). Participants data may be shared with these platforms in compliance with their privacy policies.

11. Governing Law

11.1 Dispute Resolution

 a. Any disputes related to course work must first be attempted to be resolved through good faith negotiations between the parties. If negotiations fail, the matter will be referred to arbitration or court proceedings as agreed by the parties.

a. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
